The actual search for the right Content Management System (CMS) for your organization (or yourself) can be overwhelming and daunting. What does help this process though, is knowing what you want, and just as importantly, what you don’t want. For example, I want something that’s going to be user-friendly, is low cost, is database driven, has a WYSIWYG editor and is capable of integrating with plenty of 3rd-party applications. What I don’t want is something that disrupts my work flow, requires a team of engineers to maintain, requires dozens of servers to run, and constrains my creativity.

Because there are so many things to consider in choosing a Content Management System that fits your needs, I’ve included a series of articles that each takes a slightly different angle at addressing this challenge.

Knowing when you need a CMS
Content management is a large topic that can be quite confusing, and may bring up many questions: What can a CMS do? What do we need from a CMS? How do I make sense of all the CMS solutions available? Read More >

What does a CMS do and how does it work?
A CMS is a set of processes, applications, and databases that help an organization create, store, coordinate, and publish information in a useful format, a timely fashion, and with a consistent method. “Content” refers to any meaningful information (data) formatted for consumption by an audience. Read More >

Choosing a CMS
You’ve decided that your organization needs a content management system ( CMS), but what’s the best way to find the right system among the many out there? We’ll discuss strategies for choosing the best one for your type of organization and walk you through the selection process. Read More >
